Bystry earns #HLWBB Freshman of the Week honors for second time

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Northern Kentucky University Norse women's basketball guard Karina Bystry was tabbed Horizon League Freshman of the Week on Monday, marking the second time the Tennessee native earned the distinction this season.

In the Norse's lone game of the week at #21 Ohio State, Bystry went for 21 points, four assists, three rebounds, and a steal while shooting 7-8 from the field and 6-8 from the free throw line. She led the Horizon League in scoring average on the week with 21.0 points per game, and in field goal percentage with 87.5%.

Bystry is now one of just ten players in the Horizon League with multiple 20-point games, and the only freshman with a pair of 20-point performances. She was the only freshman in the nation to post a 20-point, 85% field goal percentage game this past week. As of Monday, she leads all freshmen nationally in free throw attempts (66) and ranks third in made free throws (49).

Bystry and the Norse take on Cleveland State on Tuesday, before returning home on Sunday to take on Bradley at 2:30 PM.
