INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Northern Kentucky University Norse women's basketball freshman
Karina Bystry earned her fourth Horizon League Freshman of the Week award on Monday, following a week where she helped lead the Norse to a pair of wins over Milwaukee and Green Bay. She posted weekly averages of 16.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists, while shooting 14-16 from the free throw line.
Bystry put up 16 points, six rebounds, and two assists in a gritty win over Milwaukee on Thursday afternoon, where she hit a clutch three-pointer to give the Norse the lead with under a minute to go. Against Green Bay on Saturday, she dropped 16 points and grabbed seven boards in a 77-59 blowout over the league's top team.
The Engelwood, Tennessee native now leads the league in Freshman of the Week honorees with her fourth of the season. Bystry leads all Horizon League freshmen this season in points per game with 14.8, and leads all freshmen nationally in made free throws/game with 5.0 and attempts with 6.1, among qualified players.
