Martin finished his career as NKU’s all-time hits leader with 270, and he helped the Norse baseball program re-emerge as a regional power. During the 2002 Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament championship game, Martin’s run-scoring single in the eighth inning snapped a 3-all tie against Saint Joseph’s as NKU went on to post a 5-3 win and capture its first-ever GLVC Tournament title. He also became NKU’s all-time career hits leader with that RBI single, which gave the Norse a 4-3 lead. Martin earned All-America honors as a junior after batting .397 with seven home runs and 53 RBIs. Martin hit better than .300 in each of his four seasons and is regarded as one of the best clutch hitters in the program’s history.
