Rose (Broderick) Kappesser competed for the NKU softball team from 2007-2010, where she was a four-year starter. She led the Norse to two NCAA Division II Tournament appearances and helped the team become GLVC Tournament Champions. Broderick was a strong hitter for the Norse and still remains in the top-10 for multiple categories. At the time of her induction, she was number six in history for runs scored (111), third for total bases (312), ninth for games played (205), third for runs batted in (111), sixth for hits (199), fifth for doubles (38), fifth for home runs (21), and fourth for at bats (662). Broderick was named GLVC Student-Athlete of the Week during her first year, where in a doubleheader she went 7-for-10 with two doubles, a home run, and three RBI in one day. This also included a second day where she hit .647 with seven RBI, five runs, and three doubles. During her first year, she broke the single-season home run record for the Norse as their leadoff hitter. That year, she received an award from NKU for this accomplishment. Her junior year, Broderick broke NKU’s career home run record, which allowed her to hold both home run titles. During her senior season, she batted .349 with five home runs, and 39 runs batted in. She also collected 12 doubles that year. She was selected to second team in the GLVC and was the GLVC Softball Student-Athlete Scholar of the Year in 2010. In 2010, Broderick made the NFCA Division II All-Region Second Team and Daktronics Division II All-Region Second Team. In 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010, Broderick made the Academic All-Great Lakes Valley Conference Team.

Broderick had a strong showing on the field and in the classroom; her biggest accomplishment was being the NCAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Chair. In 2008, she was chosen to serve on the NCAA DII SAAC for a three-year term. She became the GLVC SAAC President and NKU SAAC President. Broderick maintained a 3.595 cumulative GPA. During her senior year, she was awarded the Thomas J. Kearns Career Achievement Award and was named the 2010 GLVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
