Toebben, who passed away in April 2003 after a seven-month battle with cancer, guided NKU to a 137-105-15 record in 13 seasons as the head coach. He led NKU to GLVC championships in 1992, '93 and '95. In addition, he guided the Norse to a school-record 16 victories in 1995 and was named GLVC Coach of the Year twice.
